Music Ministry
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom,singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
The Worship Team at Covenant Church is a group of musicians that love to sing “psalms andhymns and spiritual songs.” We believe that rhythm and melody were created by God to be used for His Glory. Our ministry lies in the creative combination of the power of music with the profound truth of the Gospel - all to inspire the congregation to glorify Christ, by allowing theword of Christ to dwell in them more richly.
While we love to create music that honors God, we believe that worship is first and foremost a posture of the heart before God; While we love to create music that honors God, we believe that worship is first and foremost a posture of the heart before God; therefore we seek to create a culture of worship within the Covenant community. Worship music without worship culture is just noise (1 Corinthians13:1). Team members seek to experience God through prayer, service, fellowship, teaching,discipling, and any other means of loving God and loving our neighbor. The music we make is not worship in and of itself, but rather an artful expression of already worshipful lives - it is the beautiful symptom of the Holy Spirit being active in our community.
The Worship Team assembles each Sunday morning before the worship service to prepare forthe meeting and rehearse the songs for that day. Many members of the worship team also take part in the writing of new spiritual songs and the re-writing of theologically rich, but musically outdated hymns from centuries past.
